What type of battery back-up does my home security system use?

Most likely a 12 volt 7 amp.We would prefer to have one of our service technicians come out to change the backup battery so that the system can be properly tested afterwards.

But if you are familiar enough and comfortable with doing this on your own then you can purchase one of these batteries from us here at Catawba Security, or at Interstate All Battery Center in the Verizon Plaza in front of Meijer on Milan Rd (Rt 250) Sandusky.Or some customers have also purchased these online.

To replace the battery in a DSC PC1832:

Call the dispatch center 800-633-2677 and use your passcode to place the system in test mode at the monitoring station so that no errant signals, or alarms are processed as real events.

  1. Disarm the security system panel.
  2. Power off the panel.
  3. Remove the old battery and be sure to remember how everything is connected and set-up so that you can replicate that with the new battery connections. (Maybe take a picture for reference)
  4. Reconnecting and powering up.

Note: Verify the panel does not display a Battery Absent trouble condition. If the keypad still displays a low battery message, the new battery may just need time for the panel to recharge it.

You may need to reset the time and date.
